Eagles' Dominant Rushing Game Propels Over The Union Bulldogs

Waleska, GA- In a pivotal Appalachian Athletic Conference game, the Reinhardt Eagles triumphed against the Union Bulldogs with a final score of 40 to 16. This victory was vital in improving their season record to 2-3 and their first conference win of the season
The Eagles exhibited a dominating performance right from the beginning, securing an early lead that proved insurmountable for the Bulldogs. Ethan Rice's impressive 53-yard touchdown run set the tone for the Eagles early in the first quarter. The momentum continued with Jamarion Walker, who pushed through the Bulldogs' defense for a 4-yard touchdown on their second drive of the first quarter. In total, the Eagles scored fourteen points in the first quarter and then added twenty more in the second quarter, which took them into the half leading 34-14.
The Eagles dominated the game with strategic plays, including Markell Sutton's crucial interception in the second quarter, which he returned for a touchdown, further widening the score gap. Taylor Jackson rounded off the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run. Within the first half, Xavier Brantley also made significant contributions, notably catching an 18-yard touchdown pass from Jackson just before the halftime break.
The second half saw a shutout by the Reinhardt defense, including an interception by Braylon Jones and two field goals by Alex Hanson. Offensively, the Eagles dominated the rushing game for 287 yards. Jah Colbert rushed ten times for 122 yards, and Rice rushed six times for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Nolan Marshall was all on the field with six tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack. Jones and Sutton each had an interception, with Markell scoring his interception. Julian Stevenson was the leading tackler on the day with seven total tackles, four of them solo tackles. The Eagles had three sacks by Marshall, Darius Jordan, and Ethan Anderson, and Andrew Bennett, sharing the final sack.
Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to face Kentucky Christian in Grayson, Kentucky, next Saturday, where the Eagles will look to add another AAC win to their schedule. The Eagles will need to win out the rest of the way to secure their place in the NAIA Playoffs coming up in late November.
