Eagles Fall to Webber International in Home Flag Football Matchup
Waleska, Ga. - Webber International used a prolific passing attack and a defensive score to pull away from Reinhardt University, handing the Eagles women's flag football team a 41-0 loss on Friday afternoon in Waleska, Ga.
The decisive stretch came late in the second quarter, when Webber turned a 12-0 advantage into a commanding 32-0 halftime lead with three touchdowns in the final five minutes. Wide receiver Rylee Bolser hauled in two scoring passes during that run, and defensive back Cheyenne Durand added a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown to put the game out of reach before the break.
Reinhardt's defense held Webber to just six points in the opening quarter, but the visitors broke through in the second. Quarterback Luzariana Herrera connected with Bolser on a 50-yard touchdown early in the quarter to make it 12-0, then found her again from 11 yards out with 4:52 left. Another scoring drive in the final 90 seconds ended with a 22-yard touchdown to Bolser, and Durand's pick-six on the ensuing Reinhardt possession pushed the deficit to 32 points heading into halftime.
The Eagles continued to battle after the break, limiting Webber to a single offensive touchdown in the second half. Herrera capped Webber's scoring with a short 3-yard touchdown strike to Yasmin Lott midway through the third quarter for a 40-0 edge, and the visitors added a successful point-after conversion to close the scoring at 41-0. Reinhardt's defense generated pressure throughout the day, recording four sacks against Webber's pass-heavy scheme.
Offensively, Reinhardt moved the ball in stretches but struggled to finish drives against a disciplined Webber defense. The Eagles totaled 90 yards on 45 offensive plays and picked up 11 first downs, leaning primarily on the passing game. However, Webber's pass rush and coverage produced two interceptions and kept Reinhardt out of the end zone.
Webber finished with 319 total yards, nearly all through the air. Herrera went 21-of-32 passing for 249 yards and five touchdowns without an interception. Bolser was her top target, making seven catches for 111 yards and four scores, while Lott added six receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Durand's interception return and Webber's four sacks helped preserve the shutout.
Despite the result, the contest provided another early-season measuring stick for Reinhardt as the Eagles continue to navigate a challenging schedule. With several home dates remaining in Waleska, the team will look to build on its defensive pressure and offensive execution as it prepares for upcoming Mid-South Conference competition.
