Win Places Gineris on World Golf Stage
Waleska, GA - Two weeks ago, Brooks Gineris won the first tournament of the 2022 Fall golf season. His win helped the Men's Golf Team to place in 6th position of a group of very successful college golf programs. The win also got him noticed on the world stage by the World Amateur Golf Ranking Association (WAGR).
RU Men's golf now has two players on the roster with a playing history and profile that is recognized on the global stage through the WAGR, which is supported by the R&A and USGA. Hunter Clay was recognized in June of 2022 after his performance at the NAIA Nationals. At the NAIA Nationals, Clay finished in the Top 10 - which is among the top collegiate golfers in all of the country.
Coach Evans Nichols had this to say about Gineris and the golf program, "I'm very proud of Hunter and Brooks, as well as the rest of my men's team for their commitment to this team and our vision for the program. We are getting sharper every day and accomplishments like these are great for the players and the school. I hope that performances like these by our players will continue to come from our schedule having more 54-hole tournaments. These 54-hole formats enable our players to have opportunities that will allow them to advance their personal endeavors in the game, as well as RU's reputation in the world of golf."
The Men's and Women's Golf Teams are currently playing in the Dalton State Invitational which is being held in Palm Harbor, Florida. Results from the tournament will be updated as the information comes through. All collegiate golf tournaments can be followed at the following link:
