Eagles Claim AAC Fall Preview Title; Four Eagles in the Top 10!
Adairsville, GA - Reinhardt Men's Golf competed in the 2025 AAC Fall Preview this past Monday and Tuesday, held at Barnsley Gardens Resort in Adairsville, Georgia. The #2-ranked Eagles once again had outstanding results, placing four of its golfers in the tournament top ten!
The team went with a five-man team of MJ Hodge, Pride Dyer, Trey Schmidt, Griffin Latimer, and Zane May, and two independent members, Eli Howren and Alec Strickland. Only the five-man team members can be counted for the overall team score; however, the individuals do get points added to their overall NAIA numbers.
Both days of the tournament were not the best conditions, as all teams fought through wet and cold weather. Because of the poor conditions, the tournament was cut to just two rounds of golf compared to the usual three rounds. The teams got in one round on Monday and then the final round on Tuesday.
Eli Howren was the top Eagle, placing 2nd overall with a score of +2 over par. He shot +4 on day one and then had the best round of any golfer on the course on Tuesday, shooting 2 under par! Howren was followed by Zane May, MJ Hodge, and Pride Dyer who all were in the top ten of the tournament.
May tied for third overall with a score of 4 over par. Hodge finished the two days +5, placing fifth overall, and Dyer was in eighth place with a +6.
Griffin Latimer and Trey Schmidt both finished outside the top ten after being the team leaders in the past few tournaments for the Eagles. Latimer placed 18th overall, and Schmidt was in 38th position. Finishing out the scoring for the Eagles was sophomore Alec Strickland in 41st place overall.
The team finished in first overall, and it was their third tournament championship of the fall season. The Eagles finished ahead of CIU by 6 strokes and Tennessee Wesleyan by 13 strokes. Out of the five fall golf tournaments, the Eagles did not place lower than third overall as a team.
This was the last event for Reinhardt Golf for the fall season. The team will have the next few months off from competition, and they will return for the spring season in February 2026. Currently #2 in the country, The Eagles have their eye set on the AAC Championship and NAIA qualification, which will come around in May 2026. They have a great shot at competing for the NAIA title.
