Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Men's Soccer had a tough task ahead of them in a midweek matchup against the #1 soccer team in the NAIA. The Roadrunners of Dalton State were in town on Wednesday night to showcase their brand of championship soccer. However, the Eagles battled and played them toe-to-toe at many points in the game, despite coming up short, 4-2. It was an early-season big game before the meat of the upcoming conference schedule kicks into high gear.
The game kicked off with the Eagles taking an early lead thanks to a skillful goal by Luke McLaren, assisted by Nathan Booth. However, the Roadrunners quickly responded with a penalty shot by Jesus Huitanda, leveling the score. Dalton State then seized the lead later in the first half via Sergej Misic, with an assist from Vinicius Novo, bringing the halftime score to 2-1 in favor of the Roadrunners.
In the second half, Dalton State extended its lead with Jonathan Hernandez and another goal by Sergej Misic. Dalton State was able to push the lead to 4-1, but the Eagles never backed down. Despite the loss, Eagles' goalie Andree Meza made commendable efforts in the goal. He had several amazing saves that kept the Eagles in the game early in the first half.
