Eagles Are Upset On the Road by Columbia College
Columbia, SC - The Reinhardt Eagle women's basketball team was upset this past Tuesday, January 17th, by AAC opponents, the Columbia College Koalas. The Eagles had a 7 point lead in the first quarter but that soon changed and Reinhardt wasn't able to get the lead back. Due to Columbia out scoring the Eagles and the Koala's 18 points off of Reinhardt's turnovers, Columbia ultimately clenched the win 67-61. Avanna Preston had a great game for the eagles with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Behind her was Tarrah Gibson with 10 points and 7 rebounds. After coming off a 14-0 record to now having a 2-game losing streak, the Eagles are 14-2 in their league play and is now battling the Milligan Buffs for the second spot behind Bryan College.
Outstanding Performers:
- Avanna Preston led the Eagle offense with a strong performance of 18 points, while Tarrah Gibson had the second-highest with 10.
- Preston and Gibson took charge of the boards for their team with 7 rebounds a piece.
- Maria Sanchez Ponce had 4 steals on the night.
- Summer Cramer led in assists with 5.
- Ashley Woodroffe totaled 3 blocks while Gibson had 2.

- Up next for Reinhardt, the Eagles will be playing this upcoming Saturday, January 21st at home versus the Johnson Royals at 3:00pm. This is the second match-up between the Eagles and Royals, where Reinhardt took the first game 80-65. Johnson is currently ranked 12th in the AAC, while Reinhardt is ranked 2nd with a 14-2 record.
