Ashley Woodroffe & Maria Sanchez Ponce Named AAC All-Conference
AAC Women's Basketball Awards Announced
WALESKA, Ga. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the 2022-23 Women's Basketball All-AAC Team and Awards on Tuesday. Ashley Woodroffe and Maria Sanchez Ponce were both named to the All-Conference Teams.
Ashley Woodroffe was named to the AAC 1st Team All-Conference for her outstanding play this year. Woodroffe was the leader on the floor the entire season and came up big when the Eagles needed points. She loves to drive to the basket and can often blow by any defender in the AAC.
Maria Sanchez Ponce is a newcomer to the Eagles Program and she made her impact known right away. Sanchez Ponce is from Spain and she brought her brand of basketball to Reinhardt. She made the AAC All-Freshman Team. Sanchez Ponce often came off the bench as a spark when the team needed her. She was a big reason the team started the AAC season off 14-0 and she will be a great leader for this team in the coming years.
The AAC also named the NAIA Champions of Character and All-Academic Team for the season. Avanna Preston Tate was named to the NAIA Champions of Character award and the Eagles had eight members to the All-Academic Team. Those members are Kimberlyn Black. Julia Craft, Summer Cramer, Tarrah Gibson, Rachel Lopez, Avanna Preston, Kiara Simpson, and Bo Teulings.
The Eagles will be in action early tomorrow morning for their first game of the AAC Tournament. They will play Tennessee Wesleyan at 8:30 am and that can be viewed https://portal.stretchinternet.com/aac/
