Meg McCord Hired as New Golf Coach at Rome High School
By Mike DeVader, Reinhardt Director of Athletic Communications & Media
ROME, Ga. – Former Reinhardt golfer Meg McCord was very nervous the first time Rome High School reached out to her.
Not simply because the Wolves' administration wanted to interview her for the head coaching position for the golf team, but because she just came off the course herself as a student-athlete in 2021.
After all was said and done, McCord impressed and was hired as the new golf coach at Rome heading into the 2021-22 school year.
"I never could have imagined being head coach straight out of college, but I am beyond excited," McCord said. "I've always been on the other side as the player, and it's a whole new ball game being the coach, but I am looking forward to our upcoming season and starting my new career… Not only as a coach but also as a teacher."
The Rome, Ga., native is going back home to educate in the classroom (first grade) and on the golf course.
In her final collegiate outing in the AAC National Qualifier back in late April, McCord had a stellar couple of days, and improved in round two (80, 78) to finish with all-tournament honors after placing in a tie for fifth (+12).
