Reinhardt Sets Three School Records at Mountain Laurel Open Ahead of AAC Championships
Sewanee, TN. - Reinhardt University Track Meet closed out its final meet before the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships with a productive day at the 2026 Mountain Laurel Open in Sewanee, Tennessee, posting three school records and a long list of personal bests. Competing at the University of the South, the Eagles used the meet as a final tuneup and came away with 15 personal records across the roster, along with several strong field-event marks and sprint performances.
The headline efforts came from Marquia White, Abigail Cruz, and Kamryn Penny, who each rewrote the Reinhardt record book. White set a new school mark in the women's hammer at 46.50 meters and also added marks of 42.51 meters in the discus and 11.34 meters in the shot put. Cruz delivered a school record and personal record in the javelin at 38.10 meters. Penny added the third record of the day on the men's side, clocking 15.10 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, a personal best and a new program standard.
Reinhardt also saw several other standout performances in the throws. Caleb Hamilton recorded a personal record 52.65 meters in the hammer, one of the top marks of the meet for the Eagles. Mason Coley posted 14.27 meters in the shot put and a personal record 43.80 meters in the hammer. Chase Story turned in 14.05 meters in the shot put and 44.90 meters in the discus, while Ethan Rice reached 57.23 meters in the javelin and Mike Dyess added a 50.87-meter throw. On the women's side, Kayla Morris set a personal record in the shot put at 10.88 meters and threw 39.45 meters in the hammer, while Ramsey Chambers posted personal records in both the shot put at 11.24 meters and the hammer at 39.47 meters.
On the track, Chase Malloy ran a personal record 22.40 seconds in the 200 meters, and Nikolaos Koveos added another PR with a 51.79 in the 400. Zachary Graves finished the 200 in 22.80, Marquel Savage ran 2:01.53 in the 800 and Wes Fow clocked 4:23.94 in the 1,500. Jace Anderson and Lane Woodward posted 55.92 and 56.94, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles. In the jumps, Bryan McClendon cleared 2.02 meters in the high jump, and Ebuka Ezeobi matched that height for a personal record.
The women's side added more depth performances as Abigail Bell ran 26.03 in the 200, Makenzie Cumbee finished in 26.89, and Jusella Kellman posted a personal record 13.73 in the 100. Lydiana Styles turned in a 1:00.66 in the 400, while June DeLauder ran a personal record 16.63 in the 100-meter hurdles. Samantha Cramer cleared 1.53 meters in the high jump, helping round out a meet that featured contributions throughout the lineup.
With the Mountain Laurel Open serving as the final competition before the postseason, Reinhardt now turns its attention to the AAC Championships, scheduled for April 23-25 in Montreat, North Carolina, and hosted by Montreat University. The Eagles will arrive there carrying fresh momentum after a meet that produced new records, personal bests, and several encouraging marks across both the men's and women's squads.
