Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Athletics has announced its first Hall of Fame class since 2019. This year's class brings back two legendary players from the 2010s and a coach/administrator who can be credited for helping Reinhardt Athletics get to the point it is today.
Reinhardt University Athletics is pleased to announce Randi Wimpy, Tevin McCoy, and Coach Bill Popp. The three will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame on Monday, August 25th, at the RESPYS award ceremony.
Randi Wimpy, Softball, Catcher
A native of Cartersville, Georgia, Wimpy began her career at Woodland High School, where she still holds numerous records. She signed with the Eagles after playing a year at Walters State Community College in Tennessee. A catcher for three seasons for Reinhardt, she helped the Lady Eagles to three AAC regular-season championships, two AAC tournament crowns, and a third-place finish at the 2014 NAIA Softball World Series. During her time at Reinhardt, Wimpy posted a .440 career batting average with 43 home runs and 193 RBI. In 2016, Wimpy finished her collegiate career at Reinhardt University to become a three-time AAC Conference Player of the Year, three-time First Team All-American, a two-time NFCA First Team All-American, and the first NAIA softball player in history to ever receive back-to-back NFCA Diamond Catcher of the Year Award.
Tevin McCoy, Football, Defensive End
McCoy's football college career started for the Eagles in 2013, where he recorded 36 tackles, 4 sacks, 16 tackles for a loss, and an interception as a freshman. The native of Carrollton, Georgia, and a product of the Trojans from Carrollton High School, had his best year as an Eagle in 2016 when he recorded 71 total tackles - 34 solo and had 15 sacks over 14 games. He was also honored with a 2018 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention to end his career at Reinhardt.
Bill Popp, Baseball and Director of Athletics
Popp is an all-time great at Reinhardt University, where he served as the Head Coach for Baseball, Executive Director of Athletics, and Vice-President for Enrollment Management and Athletics. His career began with the Eagles in 2004 when he started the Reinhardt Baseball program. He served as both the Director of Athletics and the Head Coach for Baseball when he started in 2004. In 2011, he gave up his position to concentrate on the duties as Director of Athletics, but also served as the Vice President of the Appalachian Athletic Conference. However, he did assume the role of Head Baseball coach in an interim position in 2018, and he took the team to its first NAIA World Series appearance.
During his time at Reinhardt, Popp was named the AAC Athletic Director of the Year four times (2020-21, 2017-18, 2015-16, 2012-13) and was named the NAIA Athletic Director of the Year in 2018 and in 2021. In 2016-17 and 2021-22, Popp was named NACDA Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year. He is credited with developing and improving the sports facilities at Reinhardt, along with doubling the number of sports programs enjoyed by the Eagles today.
Current Executive Director of Athletics Jonathan Burton had this to say about these three Hall of Fame inductees, " On behalf of Reinhardt Athletics, we are extremely excited to announce the 2025 Hall of Fame class. This class has a rich history of success, and we look forward to honoring its achievements at the RESPYS. We can't thank each of them enough for what they did for their specific programs and the athletic department as a whole. Recognizing their success with our current student athletes will allow these student athletes to learn of the history behind these programs."
The RESPYS award ceremony is scheduled for Monday, August 25th, at 6 pm at the Brown Athletic Center gymnasium. Congratulations to these three outstanding people who gave their best to Reinhardt University, and we are pleased to announce you to the Reinhardt Eagles Hall of Fame!
