Baseball team loses at Young Harris; same squads play on Wednesday at Reinhardt
Young Harris, which has applied for NCAA Division II membership, scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and once more in the third, taking a 3-0 lead. Reinhardt went ahead 4-3 with three runs in the fourth inning and another run in the fifth, but that was all the scoring the Eagles would do the rest of the way. The Mountain Lions went back on top with a pair of runs in the sixth inning and tacked on another run in the seventh before a three-run eighth.
YHC collected 11 hits and 21 total bases, compared to six and seven, respectively, for Reinhardt. The Eagles made three of the game's five errors while Young Harris left seven runners on base and the guests five.
Dustin Kimberley went 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored for Reinhardt while freshman Andy Pringle came off the bench to go 1-for-2. Michael Lonati finished 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored while Cory Cox also scored after going 1-for-3. Zach Kles had the club's only extra-base hit, a two-run double.
On the mound for the Eagles, freshman Jeff Roberts pitched into the sixth inning and left the contest with two strikeouts and Reinhardt leading. Kendric McDonald was the losing pitcher in relief while Chris Fletcher and Ricky Johnson also threw out of the bullpen.
Reinhardt drops to 7-13 overall while the Mountain Lions are 16-12. The same teams meet on Wednesday at the Eagles' Ken White Baseball Field with first pitch slated for 6 p.m.
