Baseball club picks up 5-3 win over Atlanta Christian, on road for AAC doubleheader against Bluefield this Saturday
Reinhardt opened the scoring with a run in the second inning before Atlanta Christian went ahead with two runs in the fifth. The Eagles tied the contest at 2-2 on a run in the bottom of the fifth inning but the Chargers regained the lead by scoring once in the eighth. A three-run bottom of the eighth inning for Reinhardt put the hosts up for good.
The Eagles ended with a 7-4 advantage in hits and each squad left eight runners on base. ACC committed four of the game's seven errors.
Josh Wilson paced the Reinhardt offense by going 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored while Cory Cox produced a two-run triple in his only at-bat and later scored. Billy King singled and drove in two runs.
Ricky Johnson started and earned the victory for the Eagles after allowing just one hit and no earned runs with three strikeouts over 7 1/3 innings. Two relievers followed before Ryan McDowell pitched the ninth inning to record a save.
Reinhardt improves to 10-17 overall while Atlanta Christian drops to 16-10. The Eagles play an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader at the Bluefield College Ramblin' Rams this Saturday. Game one is slated for 3 p.m. in Bluefield, Va.
