Baseball team overcomes six-run deficit in 8-7 victory over AAC opponent Milligan; same clubs play conference doubleheader on Saturday
Reinhardt got on top 1-0 with a run in the bottom of the third inning but Milligan tied the game in the fourth. The Buffaloes tallied three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings, taking a 7-1 lead, before the Eagles fought back by scoring four times in the sixth and three runs in the seventh.
Reinhardt finished with a 12-10 advantage in hits and each squad made an error. The Eagles left nine runners on base and Milligan eight.
For the winners, Don DiPetta went 2-for-4 with a triple, double, run scored and an RBI while Billy King ended 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Brett Flick also had two hits in four at-bats, driving in a pair of runs and scoring another, while freshmen Phillip Bates (double, RBI, run scored) and Andy Pringle (two runs scored) each finished 2-for-5.
Josh Wilson was Reinhardt's starting pitcher and went five innings, allowing five hits with three strikeouts. Jake Waters tossed one inning with two strikeouts before freshman CJ Oliva came on to get the win. Over the last three innings, Oliva gave up just one hit and no runs while striking out one.
The Eagles improve to 13-20-1 overall and 6-5-1 in AAC play while the Buffaloes are 18-20 overall, including 8-5 in the conference. The two teams meet for an AAC doubleheader at Reinhardt on Saturday at 2 p.m.
