Baseball squad drops 4-1 AAC decision at 11th-ranked Union (Ky.); same teams play conference doubleheader in Kentucky on Sunday
Reinhardt opened the scoring with a run in the top of the fifth inning but Union responded with two runs in the bottom half and another two in the sixth.
The Bulldogs collected seven hits while the Eagles had three. Reinhardt committed four of the contest's five errors and did not allow an earned run. The hosts left eight runners on base and the Eagles seven.
For Reinhardt, Cory Cox finished 1-for-2 while Don DiPetta and Zach Kles each went 1-for-3.
Josh Wilson was the Eagles' starting pitcher and tough-luck loser. Over five innings, he gave up five hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Taylor Smith and Kendric McDonald combined to pitch the final inning.
Reinhardt slips to 15-24-1 overall and 8-6-1 in the AAC while Union moves to 35-8 overall, including 13-2 in conference play. Since Saturday's second game of a doubleheader was postponed, the same teams meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. for a conference doubleheader at Union.
