Wold signs to attend Reinhardt, play baseball for Eagles
"In Collins we get an experienced athlete who has played shortstop at a high level for the last six years," Ihlenburg said. "He is a local product from Creekview High School and had a very good career at Andrew College. He is a welcomed addition to our team."
Wold, the son of Craig and Debbie Wold, is presently in his second season at Andrew, a Division I member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Primarily a shortstop throughout high school and college, he has started 45 of the Fighting Tigers' first 46 games this year and is leading the club in runs scored (28), walks (35), on-base percentage (.429) and sacrifice hits (eight). Wold is batting .273 with 18 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 13 attempts.
Krum stated that Wold is a "very sure handed and smart ball player. He helps form a very solid middle of the infield for us."
A three-year starter at nearby Creekview under head coach Mike Nayman, Wold was named the county's Player of the Year by the Cherokee Tribune and Co-Offensive Player of the Year by the Cherokee Ledger-News in 2009 when he hit .385 with a county-best 38 runs scored, 23 RBIs, .462 on-base percentage and 19 stolen bases. As a senior, he led CHS to the Region 7-AAA championship and its first berth in the state playoffs. A fine all-around student-athlete, Wold was also a standout quarterback for the Grizzlies' football team.
