Thayer signs to attend Reinhardt, play baseball for Eagles
Thayer, the son of Sam and Deborah Thayer, was Mount Pisgah's starting shortstop in 2010 and 2011 after transferring from West Forsyth High School in Cumming. This past season, MPCS posted 14 wins, the most since becoming a member of the Georgia High School Association. As a junior, Thayer had the game-winning RBI with a ninth-inning single when the Patriots clinched their first state playoff berth since joining the GHSA. He has played travel ball through the prestigious East Cobb Baseball program the last three years. Thayer also competed in basketball at Mount Pisgah.
"Zach was a key part of our middle infield," O'Connor said. "His high baseball IQ makes him a player that will help Reinhardt. We wish Zach well as he advances to the next level."
After visiting the main campus and working out for Ihlenburg, Thayer stated that Reinhardt "just felt right." He chose the Eagles over NCAA Division II applicant Young Harris College, NAIA member Southern Polytechnic State University and two-year institution Georgia Perimeter College.
