Eagles Lose Second Game of Southeastern Series in Florida
David Finney
Lakeland, FL - After having a good day of hitting and scoring runs in game one of a three-day series versus Southeastern University, the Eagles would look to get one back on the Fire. Andrew Herbert was on the mound for Reinhardt where he would pitch in five innings. Southeastern was able to get eight hits off Herbert, but he also struck out eight batters as well.
The hitting would struggle a little from what they saw the previous day and they left several players on the bases in scoring positions. The Eagles would score one run in both the third inning and the eighth inning, but that would be all that they could get across home plate.
Jacob Profit, Patrick Baggett, Dawson Johns, Xavier Arnette, Matty Maurer, and Alex Coulter all got hits for the Eagles. Profit would double in the third, which he eventually scored giving Dawson Johns an RBI.
In the eighth inning, Patrick Baggett and Tucker Zdunich walked and Dawson Johns would be hit by a pitch - this loading up the bases. Jarrett Burney would have a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Baggett on the play. That would be it for scoring for the Eagles as they would take the defeat, 6-2.
Reinhardt will try to get the game three win on Saturday before heading back home. Southeastern is a very talented baseball team that is ranked #3 in the NAIA, however, the Eagles played with them very competitively in game one. Look for game three to be very competitive as well as the Eagles try to produce more runs. First pitch at noon.
