It was a Crazy Night at Ken White Baseball Field
Waleska, Ga. - For the last regular-season home game at Ken White Field, the Eagles tried to put every scenario into play as Faulkner was visiting. There were extra innings, seventeen total pitchers used (nine by Reinhardt), several lead changes, thirty-three total hits, three home runs, twenty-five total runs, and after four and a half hours of baseball - the winning run was brought in on a wild pitch. At 9:30 EST on Wednesday evening, Jarrett Burney was cross the plate as Faulkner's catcher ran to the backstop to try to find the ball. It was a game packed full of everything with the Eagles coming out on top 13-12.
Jaily Paredes would get the start and he would go two total innings. His first inning was a little shaky giving up three runs to start the game, but his second inning was excellent with two strikeouts. Jet Kern would follow Paredes with 1.1 innings pitched and he would give up 4 runs in the third inning. After this, the Eagles would settle down and have decent pitching, but they would go through several more pitching changes the rest of the game. Blake Rogers, Will Casel, Daniel Lee, AJ Jarrell, Hunter Paulsen, and Jordan Hampton would all come in to face one or two batters each. Ethan Foley finally came in to pitch the ninth and tenth innings and pick up the win.
Overall, the Eagles had 8 strikeouts and give up 14 hits over the ten total innings. Faulkner almost mirrored the pitching changes of the Eagles but they gave up a few more total hits to the Eagles' batters. Reinhardt would have 19 total hits in the game, however, Tucker Zdunich's double would be the only multi-base hit by the Eagles.
Jarrett Burney and Albert Mora would both have impressive games at the plate. Burney would go 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Mora would go 3 for 3 with two runs scored. Other notable numbers from the offensive side would be Jacob Profit's 2 RBIs and Tucker Zdunich going 2 for 5 with 4 RBIs.
In the tenth inning with the score tied at 12 all, Jarrett Burney would lead off with a single to left. He was followed by Jacob Profit's single to left which put a runner at first and second with no outs. Patrick Baggett would be intentionally walked which loaded the bases. This brought up the Eagles' home run leader, Tucker Zdunich, to bat. Everyone left watching at the field was expecting something big to happen off the bat of Zdunich, which has happened several times this season - but it would be a wild pitch by Faulkner that slipped by the catcher to hit the backstop. Burney was already at home plate by the time the catcher reached the ball and that was it. The game was over in favor of the Eagles on a wild pitch.
Ethan Foley would end up with the win for the Eagles after pitching the final two innings striking out one and giving up one hit.
The Eagles will have the day off tomorrow before traveling to Bryan for the weekend series. Next week, the Eagles will just have one more series at Milligan to end the regular season. The AAC Tournament will begin the following week and more information on the tournament will be on ReinhardtEagles.com as it becomes available.
