Eagles Narrowly Lose in Midweek Road Game
Cochran, GA - The Eagles were on the road for a midweek single game with Middle Georgia State where they would come up a little short, 6 to 4.
Hal Stelljes would get the start for the Eagles on the mound where he has had much success this season. He has started a few games and also has come as a reliever in some games. He would give up all six runs for the Knights, which were scored in the first four innings. Stelljes pitched 3.1 innings before Landon Perkins would come in to pitch for the Eagles. Perkins got in 1.2 innings striking out one batter. He was followed by Will Casel, Blake Rogers, and Paker Miller. All of these pitchers got in a single inning and kept the Knights off the board.
Stelljes would have 3 strikeouts and had 5 hits against him - however - three of those hits were home runs. The four relievers that came behind him only gave up two hits the rest of the way.
At the plate, the Eagles would have 12 hits in the game with one of the hits being another homerun by Dylan Lewis who has shown that he has great power and a threat to put one out of the park at every at-bat. The Eagles left 14 on base during the nine innings, which ended up being the downfall in the game. Typically this season, the Eagles have been able to get those runs across the plate as they outscore their opponents.
The Eagles would get two runs in the fourth and two runs in the ninth before coming up just two runs shy of tieing the game. Jarrett Burney continues his hot streak this season getting two doubles in the game. Dawson Johns was able to double as well. The RBIs came from Jacob Profit, Dylan Lewis (2), and Alex Coulter.
The Eagles will put this loss behind them and get ready for the AAC weekend series with St. Andrews on the road. The doubleheader will be on Saturday at 12 pm and 3 pm and then a single game on Sunday at 12 pm.
