Eagles Hold on in Game Three Win at Montreat
Montreat, NC - The Eagles do just enough to keep the win in game three of the AAC series with Montreat, 9-8, and take the series two games to one. Lance Dockery and Dylan Lewis get it done at the plate and Blake Rogers comes in to save the game for the Eagles.
Jordan Hampton would get the start for the Eagles and pitch five innings. He had two strikeouts in his innings and only gave up five hits, however, he had one home run and four runs scored against him. He had two innings with no runs. Hal Stelljus came in the bottom of the sixth inning to relieve Hampton and he would have two strikeouts as well. He only gave up three hits, but two of those were home runs in the seventh inning which allowed the Cavaliers back into the game, 9-6 Eagles.
Will Casel would come in for Stelljus in the ninth and ran into some trouble. He faced three batters and let two runs score. He walked two and hit another batter to get three on base before being pulled for Rogers. Rogers struck out the first batter he faced, but the next was able to sacrifice fly to score one run cutting the lead by the Eagles to 9-7. Rogers walked the next batter then gave up a hit, which scored one more run - but during the play a Cavalier tried to tie the game and was called out at home plate. This woudl give the Eagles the win, 9-8 and the series.

Offensively, the Eagles did plenty to win this game and Lance Dockery, who has had the hottest bat for the Eagles all season, came up huge again. Dockery had 7 RBIs in the game including 2 home runs. Dylan Lewis, who had been the designated hitter for the Eagles most of the season, continues to stay consistent in creating runs at the plate. Today it was a home run in the second inning that scored Dawson Johns and got the Eagles going in the game.
Dockery had incredible numbers across the board going 3 for 5 with 7 RBIs and scoring two runs. Dockery's first home run was a GRAND SLAM to right field, which scored Jacob Profit, Richard Castro, and Tucker Zdunich. His second home run was a three-run shot that scored Profit and Zdunich. This production from Lewis and Dockery was just enough to keep the Eagles from giving up the series to Montreat and keep their place in the top three teams in the conference.
