Andrew Herbert’s Rise Continues From Reinhardt to the Orioles Organization
Washington, Pa. - Former Reinhardt Baseball standout and alumnus, Andrew Herbert, took one step closer to fulfilling a dream of continuing his career at the highest level. After finishing his collegiate career with the Eagles in May of 2025, Herbert signed with the Washington Wildcats from the independent baseball Frontier League.
The Reinhardt University product built a reputation as one of the most accomplished pitchers in program history, and now that journey has carried him to the Baltimore Orioles organization after his stint with the Wild Things. The Frontier League team had Herbert's contract purchased on May 19th. For Reinhardt and everyone who followed his path, it is another proud milestone for a pitcher who has consistently turned performance into opportunity.
Herbert opened his professional career with a 2-0 record and a 3.00 ERA with the Wildcats and took a 9.1-inning scoreless streak into the transaction. That run was highlighted by a dazzling outing against the Schaumburg Boomers, when he worked seven scoreless innings, allowed just one hit and one walk, and struck out a career-best nine. He carried a perfect-game bid into the fifth inning and a no-hit bid into the sixth, the kind of command and confidence that reflects both his talent and his competitive makeup.
At Reinhardt, Herbert authored a career that stands among the best the Eagles have seen. He finished with a 37-6 record, a 2.62 ERA, 306 strikeouts in 299.1 innings, 12 complete games, and four shutouts. He was named AAC Pitcher of the Year twice, in 2023 and 2025, while also collecting multiple All-American and All-AAC honors along with program records. Those accomplishments speak to excellence over time, but they also reflect the consistency and work ethic that helped make him a cornerstone for the program and a standard for younger players to follow.
Jonathan Burton, current Executive Director of Athletics and former Head Coach of Reinhardt Baseball, added this about Herbert's accomplishment, "We are so excited for Herb and this opportunity to continue to fulfill his dream. I will never forget when he showed up in Canton, GA, in the summer of 2021, looking for an opportunity. Without hesitation, it was an immediate yes for a young arm that hadn't fully developed yet on the mound. He improved so much over his time here and deserves every bit of this. He showed why he was one of the most dynamic and outstanding pitchers at this level during his time here, and now he gets to make us proud as he represents the program on the big stage. We are proud of Herb, and of the impact he left on our baseball program."
The Reinhardt University community is thrilled to congratulate Andrew on his contract purchase! We wish him all the best as he begins his journey with the Orioles organization and his pursuit of reaching the majors.
