Football program hosting free on-campus combine/tryout for prospective players on Dec. 3
WALESKA, Ga. -- The Reinhardt University football program, which begins practice next fall in preparation for its first intercollegiate competition in 2013, is hosting a free on-campus combine/tryout for prospective players on Saturday, Dec. 3.
The combine/tryout takes place at the James & Sis Brown Athletic Center on Reinhardt's main campus in Waleska. Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the lobby of the Brown Athletic Center with activities starting at 10 a.m. and lasting until about 1 p.m. The event is open to all high school players and those with athletic eligibility remaining who are determined to play at the next level and be a part of the University's first-ever football team. Athletic and other aid is available to qualified student-athletes.
The Eagles' three current coaches -- head coach Dr. Danny Cronic, defensive coordinator Rusty Wright and assistant coach Will Heath -- will conduct the combine/tryout with help from recruiting specialist George Spencer from LRS Sports. The staff records the height and weight of the players, and oversees and administers physical testing aspects that include the 40-yard dash, bench press, 20-yard pro shuttle, vertical jump and standing long jump. Representatives from Reinhardt's Admissions and Financial Aid offices will also be present and available to answer questions during the registration period.
Players interested in attending the combine/tryout are encouraged to fill out the Prospective Athlete questionnaire on the football page of Reinhardt's athletic website, www.ReinhardtEagles.com, and indicate that they will be coming on Dec. 3. Prospects need to bring their own equipment, including sneakers and cleats. For more information, please contact Cronic (770-720-5875, DGC@reinhardt.edu), Wright (770-720-5881, RWW@reinhardt.edu) or Heath (770-720-5876, WTH@reinhardt.edu).
Cronic, who enjoyed great success as a high school head coach in Georgia, plans to add to his coaching staff later this year. Wright has several years of coaching experience at the collegiate level and was a four-time letterman at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga while Heath is a former wide receiver at the University of Tennessee at Martin. The Eagles compete within the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
