Eagles Release 2017 Schedule
May 2, 2017
WALESKA, Ga. - Reinhardt head football coach James Miller announces today the 2017 schedule for the Eagles. The first season for Miller at the helm will feature 10 regular season games, including a pair of road games to start the campaign.
"I think it's a challenging schedule," said Miller. "We're playing in one of the more difficult conferences in the NAIA. There's good teams from top to bottom. We'll have two really tough road trips to start the season, We're going to have to work really hard week after week. There's not an opponent that we can overlook."
The Eagles will start the season at Cincinnati Christian Sept. 2. The following week, the Eagles will head to Montgomery, Ala., for a contest with Faulkner. "We've got a really long trip to Cincinnati to start the season," Miller said. "Faulkner's always a tough trip. They've always got plenty of players and it's a really challenging game."
The Eagles will open up University Stadium at Ken White Field Sept. 16 when Webber International visits for the first-ever meeting with the Eagles. WIU and the rest of the teams that were formerly part of The Sun Conference will join the Mid-South Conference, but be in a separate division. Faulkner, formerly an MSC-West Division foe of Reinhardt, is now part of the MSC-Sun Division as well while CCU is part of the new MSC-Bluegrass Division.
Reinhardt stays home Sept. 23 for a contest with MSC-Bluegrass foe Bethel. The Eagles will wrap up the month when they travel to face Point in an MSC-Appalachian Division contest. The game begins a stretch of six contests in a row against division foes.
Reinhardt will begin the month of October at home against University of the Cumberlands Oct. 7. A traditional foe for most of Reinhardt's other sports, Union will visit the Eagles as members of the same football division for the first time Oct. 14.
With RU not playing anyone the first official week of football season over the last weekend of August, the second open week of the season will come Oct. 21. The following week, Reinhardt will travel to face Pikeville in what is traditionally a difficult contest for the Eagles. The regular season home slate will come to an end Nov. 4 as an improving Bluefield squad travels to face the Eagles. In the regular season finale, Reinhardt will close MSC-Appalachian action as it faces first-year program St. Andrews in Laurinburg, N.C.
Season tickets for the 2017 season will go on sale during the month of May. For more information, visit ReinhardtEagles.com
