WALESKA, Ga. – (Live Video | Live Stats) For the first time since the Eagles hosted the Union (Ky.) Bulldogs back on Nov. 16, 2019 – nearly a 15-month break from football inside Ken White Field at University Stadium – No. 13 Reinhardt welcomes Faulkner (Ala.) to Waleska for a 4 p.m. clash Saturday afternoon.
The hometown team is looking to claim back-to-back wins after opening the season with a convincing 36-3 road triumph over Point (Ga.).
"This has been a long time coming; lots of sacrifice, discipline and hard work to have an opportunity to play at our home field between the pines in Waleska, Ga.," lead Eagle James Miller said. "I'm so blessed and thankful we get this chance. Our kids are excited, and our parents of our kids are excited. We have an opportunity to protect our house and we need to take full advantage of it. We have to be focused and disciplined to beat a very good Faulkner team that we haven't played since 2017 – excited to bring this rivalry back – and we will play hard and see what happens.
"Once again, thank you Dr. Roberts, Bill Popp, Jeffrey Pourchier, Mandy Cagle, Ashley Wolary, Matt Warner and the rest of the training staff that have made this day possible. I'd like to thank my coaches and players as well; we are a blessed football team."
Most recently, the Eagles used a dominant running attack and strong defense to hand the Skyhawks a 36-3 defeat at Ram Stadium. The hometown team totaled 498 yards, including 338 on the ground on 53 carries (6.4 average) to start the newest campaign off on the right foot.
The visiting Eagles are opening their postponed 2020 football schedule Saturday after a 3-6 campaign during the 2019 slate. Faulkner finished the aforementioned year with a 24-14 loss to St. Thomas (Fla.).
For the visiting Eagles, all of the wins were by at least 19 points.
Reinhardt was victorious on the road at Faulkner, 54-31, Sept. 9, 2017.
A rivalry renewed.
