WALESKA, Ga. – (Live Video | Live Stats) Appalachian Division play within the Mid-South Conference begins on Saturday as No. 10 Reinhardt welcomes Point (Ga.) inside Ken White Field at University Stadium for a Noon kickoff.
It will be the second time in four weeks that the Eagles and Skyhawks will square off on the gridiron, as both schools competed in a non-league game to begin the season back on Feb. 6.
The hometown squad came out victorious on the road, 36-3.
Last week's scheduled contest with St. Andrews (N.C.) was canceled, so Reinhardt is pumped to have the opportunity to play in front of the home fans once again.
"Excited for the opportunity to take the field again tomorrow at high Noon," head coach James Miller said. We had an unscheduled bye week that the kids handled great. We have had a good prep for the game and our young men are excited to get back in front of the home crowd. We need to take care of the football on offense and have a lot of ball disruption on defense; make M.A.D. plays on special teams and limit self-inflicted mistakes.
"Excited to watch our young men compete."
Storylines for Saturday
1. Division Play Begins
With the reshuffling of schedules to the spring of 2021, some teams within the Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division will play twice this year. Reinhardt and Point (Ga.) opened the season together, but today's matchup counts towards division record.
2. Going for the Sweep
The Eagles are looking to go 2-0 versus the Skyhawks in the first three contests of the year, as Reinhardt used a dominant running attack and strong defense to hand Point a 36-3 defeat at Ram Stadium on Feb. 6. The hometown team totaled 498 yards, including 338 on the ground on 53 carries (6.4 average).
3. About the Skyhawks
Most recently, Point led, 15-14, in the fourth quarter, but a touchdown by Faulkner (Ala.) with 20 seconds remaining in the game put the Eagles on top, 21-15, and handed the Skyhawks their second loss. Point is 0-2 on the season.
