Football Ends Spring Practices with Annual Navy/Gold Game
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Football is coming off a successful 2022 Fall season where they went 8-2 overall, and 5-0 in the AAC. One of the losses was a first-round narrow defeat at Lindsey Wilson where the Eagles made a heroic comeback in the final seven minutes of the fourth quarter to have a chance to tie or win the game. The team is taking what they learned from last season and applying it to this spring and preparing for the fall, which has a good home schedule planned for Eagles fans.
The team will be bringing back some very talented players from last year's squad and backup players will finally get their chance to shine in the starting lineup. The Eagles are loaded at the quarterback position with five currently on the roster and all got time on the field during the spring game.
Taylor Jackson seems to be the frontrunner for Coach Miller. Jackson went 5 of 8 for 65 yards and one touchdown when he played the first few series. Stephen Craig followed and went 5 of 7 for 38 yards. Ethan Rice got plenty of time playing as well throwing for 3 of 7 for 32 yards. Rice also ran 5 times for 46 yards and scored a touchdown. Louis De Lulio and Josiah Smith also saw time in the quarterback positions with both getting a few throws in for the Eagles.
Jae Colbert led the way at the running back position. He ran the ball 10 times for a total of 70 yards and one score. Christoper Rice and Sirmarcus Burney also had multiple carries each with Rice getting in the endzone once and Burney scoring twice.
Tyshun Jordan as the leading receiver for the Eagles catching the ball 4 times for 49 yards. CJ McGhee was next with 3 catches for 25 yards. Gage Stephens and Jarod Whitmore both caught the ball two times each. Stephens had 29 yards receiving and Whitmore was at 22 total.
The defense led by Zaryon Stubbs had several good plays that halted the Eagles fast-paced offense. The defense had two takeaways in the game.
In addition to the game, Coach Miller handed out awards for outstanding players from the spring training season. Here is the list of winners:
