Reinhardt Names Emerson Joseph Head Coach of Flag Football Program
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt University Athletics announced Tuesday, April 14th, that Emerson Joseph has been hired as head coach of the Eagles Flag Football program. Joseph steps into the role immediately as the recruiting season is already underway, giving Reinhardt a new leader with experience at both the college and high school levels in flag football and tackle football.
Joseph arrives from Life University, where he spent the past two years as assistant coach and defensive coordinator for the women's flag football team. His background also includes three seasons leading the girls flag football program at Somerset Academy South Homestead in Florida, where his teams went 27-11 and produced multiple All-Dade County players. In addition to his work in flag football, he served as an assistant coach for the school's boys football team and oversaw strength and conditioning programs, adding another layer to his coaching profile.
Before moving into collegiate coaching, Joseph also worked for three years as an educator. He earned a bachelor's degree in recreation and sport management from Florida International University, where he played football and later worked as an assistant coach under legendary head coach Butch Davis. That mix of classroom experience, player development, and college football exposure gives Reinhardt a coach with a broad background as the program continues to build.
Executive Director of Athletics Jonathan Burton had this to say about Joseph becoming the next leader for Reinhardt Flag Football: " I am very excited that Emerson has chosen to lead our Flag Football team. His ability to show a clear plan for how he will work to elevate the program is one that we all should feel excited about. Women's flag is gaining momentum, and we needed a coach who could capture that momentum while building a program that can sustain growth. We are fortunate to have Emerson and look forward to watching his team's growth over this next season and beyond."
Joseph will bring his experience and success to guide the Eagles on the field while also leading recruiting efforts and continuing to shape the culture of the program. His stated priorities are teamwork, discipline, and personal growth, themes that align with the developmental side of college athletics as much as competitive success. With a current squad of young talent that just set a new mark of wins in a season, Joseph's arrival gives Reinhardt Flag Football a new direction with the added excitement of what can become for this emerging sport in the NAIA.
