Columbia, SC. – Reinhardt looked to redeem a home lost with an on the road win, but the Rams outshot the Eagles with a final score of 81-73.
To start the first half, the Eagles shot 56% from the field goal and held a firm defense that the Rams could not get around. However, with four Eagle turnovers within two minutes, the Rams looked to take the lead 19-16 as they went on a 10-point run to Reinhardt's 0, after trailing the Eagles.
With that, the Eagles could not gain their ground as they struggled to score, shooting 37% from the field goal as Kristian Collins put two more on the board after four minutes of no movement on the board (24-32). With 3:50 left before half-time, Collins and Dereck Lampkin continued to fight in the paint to trail the Rams 33-38. With under a minute to play, unforced errors caused the Rams to keep the lead 43-34 into half-time.
Within the first half, Lampkin lead the Eagles offense with 14-points and Tafari Thomas lead in rebounds with 5.
Headed into the second half, Reinhardt continued to search for their flow as the Rams went on a 6-0 run to force an early timeout from Head Coach Newton. With multiple substitutions from the Eagles, Jamison Syphore brought more defensive energy forcing the Rams 3 turnovers with an 11-0 run on the Rams. This brought the Eagles back to trail the Rams 3 with the score 50-53.
Despite the Eagles hard work on the defensive side, they could not finish offensively, shooting 8% at the 3-point line to the Rams 43% with the score 56-67 with 7:30 left in the game. Eagles looked to take the lead but could not get their hands on it, as they finish on the road with a loss.
