Four Players in Double Figures in Big Eagles Win!
WALESKA, GA.- The Reinhardt Eagles welcomed conference foe Montreat Cavaliers to the Brown Athletic Center on Wednesday, December 1st. The hospitality would end as soon as the whistle blew starting the game and the Eagles came out flying.
Reinhardt was led by senior guard, Jalin Wimberly, who had a solid night shooting the ball. Wimberly was 7 for 11 from the field and 4 for 6 from behind the 3 point arc. He would finish with 19 points leading all scores. Wimberly was helped by starters Josh Press and Keyshaun Street, who both scored in double figures with 15 and 14 respectively.
In addition to the trio of Wimberly, Press, and Street - the Eagles received much needed bench scoring from senior, Tafari Thomas, who ended the night with 12 points. Thomas was a huge spark off the bench when he came in midway through the first half to throw down a monstrous alley-oop hammer from teammate Keyshaun Street.
The cruising defense, physical toughness, and speed of play proved to be too much for the visiting Cavaliers. The gap was narrowed somewhat in the second half, however, Montreat was never able to overcome the first half lead that the Eagles created. The game ended with Reinhardt winning 80-64 and pushing their win streak to four games.
The Eagles will put their win streak on the line this Saturday, December 4th when they face conference opponent, Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky.
