Jalin Wimberly and the Eagles Make it Four in a Row
Waleska, GA - It was the Jalin Wimberly Show Tuesday evening at the Brown Athletic Center. Wimberly and the Eagles poured it on in the second half against Bryan College to get the win, 88-72. Wimberly is an AAC All-Conference player and he showed why by scoring 26 points and pulling down 16 rebounds. It was one of Wimberly's best games of his career and the Eagles had one of their best games of the season pulling into fourth place in the AAC standings.
Wimberly had a lot of help tonight with five Eagles scoring in double figures. Antonio Spencer had another great game showing his presence in the middle scoring 14 points. He was followed closely by Nate Louis who had 13 points, Brandon Barron with 11 points, and Jamison Syphore with 10 points. Syphore was 2 for 4 from behind the three-point arch.
The first half had various leads by the Eagles, however, the score was close most of the way through. The Eagles were able to get up to an eleven-point lead midway through the first half, but Bryan was able to chip away at the lead slightly going into the half down by eight, 36-28. The only time the Eagles did not lead in this game was three minutes into the first half they trailed 3-2. This quickly changed when the Eagles went on an early run getting the eleven-point lead and they never looked back after that.
The second half saw Wimberly take over and it seemed everything that he wanted to do was working. He was 10-15 from the field shooting and 5-7 from three-point land. It was truly an unbelievable moment for Wimberly and he was able to put on a show for the student body of Reinhardt.
At times, the Eagles seemed like they would put the game out of reach from all the scoring, but the Lions did keep it in striking distance getting the Eagles' lead down to just nine points with about eight minutes left. That would be as close as Bryan would get and the Eagles kept adding to the lead and putting on a show for the crowd when they had a chance. Jawdat Rezeq came in for the final four to five minutes and added the cap to the game by shooting a long-distance three-pointer that hit nothing but the bottom of the net. The time ran out on the game and the Eagles enjoyed getting their fourth AAC win in a row.
The Eagles will be back in action this Saturday when they will face Johnson at home. The game is scheduled for 5 pm after the Women's Team play at 3 pm. The Eagles are doing their best to win out so they can possibly move into the second-place spot to end the season.
