Thomas, Wimberly, & Woodroffe Hit Career Milestones This Season!
Waleska, GA - Three of our RU Basketball players reached important milestones this season after having standout careers on the court for the Eagles. Tafari Thomas, Jalin Wimberly, and Ashley Woodroffe can all put the ball in the basket and they proved this over their time at Reinhardt University.
Tafari Thomas hit the 1000-point mark this season against Montreat a few weeks ago. Thomas has been leading the Eagles in scoring for several games this season and is often doing in entertaining, high-flying action. Whether it is shooting a long-distance three-pointer or driving down the lane to throw down a tomahawk slam on the competition, Tafari knows how to score. Not only can Tafari score, but he usually leads the team in rebounds because of his desire to get the ball along with his gift of flight. He's a great weapon for Coach Newton's squad and it has been a privilege to watch him play over his RU career!
Jalin Wimberly crossed the almost impossible mark of scoring 2000 points in his college career. Jalin is the team leader for the Eagles and is often a marked man by the other team's top defender. Despite someone having the task of trying to keep you from scoring, Jalin finds a way to get it done. He can shoot the three-ball, he can pull up for the midrange, or he can drive to the basket and you know that one way or another he is going to get shots to go in during a game.
Ashley Woodroffe hit her 1000 career point against St. Andrews this season. She is the leading scorer for RU Women's Basketball averaging 14.6 points per game and is a necessity on the floor for Coach Wagoner's Eagles. Ashley has had an excellent career for Reinhardt and she was a key piece in the 2022 AAC Championship run for the Eagles. This season she had to step up her game to become the floor leader for the Eagles after several key players graduated from the 2022 team. She helped the Eagles get out to a 14-0 start in conference play this season. Ashley is tough and gritty on the court and gets many of her points taking players one-on-one to the basket, however, she can sit back and shoot the deep ball as well. Just like Jalin on the men's team, Ashley is often targeted by the opposing team's top defender to try and stop her from driving and scoring.
Congratulations to these three talented Eagles who are all great people both on and off the court. They all represent Reinhardt University in outstanding fashion and we know that each of them will have wonderful careers once they graduate this year.
