Balanced Eagles' Attack, Scoleri’s Steady Goaltending Power 11-5 Win Over Lawrence Tech
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Men's Lacrosse used a dominant third quarter and a balanced offensive effort to pull away from Lawrence Tech for an 11-5 victory Saturday afternoon in their first game of the 2026 spring campaign.
Clinging to a 5-2 halftime lead, Reinhardt broke the game open in the third quarter with five unanswered goals to seize a 10-2 advantage. That surge effectively decided the outcome, as Lawrence Tech never drew closer than six the rest of the way. The Eagles outshot the Blue Devils 41-19 overall, including 25-17 in shots on goal, and converted their extended possessions into a steady stream of scoring chances after the break.
Luke Greer led Reinhardt's attack with three goals and one assist, firing nine shots and putting six on frame. His first-quarter strike at 3:35 capped a 3-0 run that turned an early 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead. Greer later added to the third-quarter onslaught with a goal at 6:13 that continued to stretch the margin. Bennett Morrison provided a key spark in the second quarter, scoring twice — including an extra-man goal at 13:11 — to push Reinhardt's edge to 5-2 at the half.
Benjamin Shackelford added one goal and one assist for Reinhardt, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 in shots on goal and scoring late in the third quarter to make it 10-2 with 1:59 remaining. Joey Amatulli chipped in a fourth-quarter goal at 10:47, answering a Lawrence Tech tally and halting any potential momentum for the visitors. Overall, the Eagles' depth on offense kept pressure on Lawrence Tech despite an even split at the faceoff X, where each team won 10 draws.
On the defensive end, goalie Michael Scoleri anchored Reinhardt with a complete-game performance. Scoleri played all 60 minutes, making 12 saves while allowing just five goals on 19 shots faced. His steadiness helped Reinhardt manage stretches where turnovers could have become costly; the Eagles committed 16 turnovers but were strong in transition, successfully clearing 19 times. Reinhardt also held a 23-16 edge in ground balls, aiding both possession and defensive stands.
Lawrence Tech struck first on a goal from Wyatt Salenbien at 13:39 of the opening quarter and trimmed the deficit to 3-2 late in the first on a score by Eli Gerhart. The Blue Devils, however, were held scoreless in the second quarter and managed only one goal in the pivotal third, a late strike from Parker Gannon with 54 seconds remaining. In the fourth, Lawrence Tech got goals from Borja Guillen-Mendez and Trevor Donohue — the latter assisted by Luke Gannon — but the comeback bid came too late against Reinhardt's established cushion.
Reinhardt's combination of shot volume, balance on offense and Scoleri's consistency in goal set the tone in the home win. The Eagles will take this win and use it as growth as the season continues and conference play starts. Next up for the Eagles will be conference foe, University of the Cumberlands
