WALESKA, Ga. – Pavel Dashin and Rafael Pais teamed up for the lone offensive highlight in a defensive slugfest – and it was all Reinhardt needed – to protect its home field against St. Andrews (N.C.), 1-0, Saturday evening at home.
The Eagles' record remained unblemished at 7-0 as the match went the way of the home squad after a complete team effort at Ken White Field at University Stadium.
Reinhardt and the Knights went toe-to-toe the entire day, each totaling seven shots and stopping a foursome of attempts from potentially finding the back of the net.
All was quiet for nearly 64 minutes until Dashin redirected a free kick from Pais and slipped it past the sliding St. Andrews' goalkeeper for the would-be winner.
The Eagles then stymied the Knights the rest of the way and hung on for another positive outcome within Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action.
Aaron Whitten led the attack with three shot attempts.
Niko Tzevelekos notched another shutout while manning the net after 90 minutes of play and four saves.
The top two teams in the AAC – and the only undefeated squads remaining in the league – square off on Nov. 11 as Reinhardt travels to Tennessee Wesleyan.
Opening whistle is set for 2 p.m. in Athens, Tenn.
