Callum Lees Lifts Reinhardt to 3-2 Saturday Win

CENTRAL, S.C. – NCAA Division II Southern Wesleyan netted a pair of second-half goals 10 minutes apart from each other late in the period after it was down 2-0, but Callum Lees responded in a big way for Reinhardt with the match-winning shot at 80:22 in a 3-2 victory over the Warriors on Saturday night.

The Eagles have now claimed back-to-back positive outcomes by the same score to improve to 2-0 on the year – with both contests being on the road.

"Another opportunity tonight for our team to learn from a match experience on the road prior to opening conference play," head coach Joey Johnson said. "Each season is a journey and I am looking forward to what lies ahead for our team."

Neither team found success on the scoreboard for the majority of the opening period, but in the span of less than two minutes, the visitors went up by a pair compliments of Gus Fidler (35:35) and Pavel Dashin (36:58).

The advantage for Reinhardt remained the same until Southern Wesleyan broke through with a score in the 64^th minute and again in the 74^th minute to tie things up.

Almost six minutes later, however, the momentum for the Warriors would evaporate after Lees found the back of the net for the win.

The Eagles combined for 21 shots in the triumph – 12 on-goal – with Fidler and Lees owing five attempts apiece.

Niko Tzevelekos took on eight shots and made six saves in 90 minutes of action.

Bluefield (Va.) welcomes Reinhardt on Sept. 8 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference opener for the hometown squad.

Kick is set for 2 p.m.
