WALESKA, Ga. – The 15th-ranked Buffaloes of Milligan (Tenn.) came into Ken White Field at University Stadium looking for a conference victory and succeeded after blanking Reinhardt on its own turf, 1-0, Saturday in Waleska.
It's the third time in the last four matches that the Eagles have ended up on the wrong side of the outcome, and they are now 11-3 on the year and 8-3 inside the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
The two teams played strong defense throughout the entire matchup, and only one shot – out of a combined 21 – found the back of the net. Unfortunately, for the hometown squad, it was Milligan who came through with the lone tally of the night on a goal at 40:34.
That one goal in the 41st minute proved-to-be enough for the Buffaloes to escape with a road win.
Pavel Dashin had three shots for Reinhardt, and two others – Sergio Cristaldo and Gabriel Stefansson – each tallied a pair of attempts.
Niko Tzevelekos made four saves in defeat in his 90 minutes.
All five corner kicks (3-2 in favor of Milligan) occurred in the second period.
The club looks to taste victory on the road at Montreat (N.C.) on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
