Eagles Draw in AAC Matchup at Bryan
Dayton, TN - In a tightly contested regular-season conference soccer match on Saturday evening, the Reinhardt Soccer drew 1-1 with the Bryan (TN) Lions in Dayton, TN. The match featured commendable performances from both teams, maintaining the excitement right through the final whistle.
The game started intensely with the Lions taking an early lead. Sammy Gomez of Bryan scored the first goal of the game, and also his first of the season, twenty minutes into the first half. Reinhardt responded strongly, leveling the score at 29:21 thanks to a goal from Biel Farre, which brought the halftime score to a 1-1 tie. This was Farre's first goal of the season and his first start; he was named "Man of the Match" by Coach Frankie Ruiz.
The second half was marked by two red cards picked up by the Lions. The first came around the seventy-first minute, and the other came at the end of the game. Unfortunately, the Eagles were not able to take advantage of being a man up in the final twenty minutes. They were able to get 8 shots on the Lions keeper, but the first-half goal was all they could get past him.
Throughout the match, both teams demonstrated solid defensive plays, with Reinhardt's goalkeeper Andree Meza showcasing notable skills throughout the match. Despite several attempts from both sides to take the lead in the second half, the defense lines held strong, and the match concluded with a 1-1 deadlock as reflected in the final score. Meza finished the game, saving 4 of 5 shots on goal from the Lions.
Looking ahead, the Eagles, holding a current record of 2-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the AAC, are now preparing to face the CIU Rams on Wednesday evening in Waleska. The team aims to build on its steady performance as it progresses through the season.
