Eagles Set Five School Records as Reinhardt Men Take Third, Women Seventh at AAC Indoor Championships
Winston-Salem, NC - Reinhardt University Track and Field turned in a record-setting weekend at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, as the men's team finished third and the women's squad placed seventh at the JDL Fast Track Indoor Complex in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Feb. 20–21. The Eagles combined for five school records, highlighted by an individual conference title from hurdler Kamryn Penny and a runner-up finish from the men's distance medley relay.
Penny delivered the program's top individual result, winning the AAC crown in the men's 60-meter hurdles. He crossed the line in 8.39 seconds, a mark that not only secured the conference title but also established a new Reinhardt school record and personal best. His performance capped a standout hurdles campaign and set the tone for a strong series of efforts in the sprint and relay events.
The men's distance medley relay of Braniff Mahoney, Carson Frizzell, Sean Weeks, and Ben Pearce added a major highlight on the track. The quartet clocked 10:30.97 to finish second in the conference and rewrite the Reinhardt record book in the event. Mahoney also posted a personal record in the individual 800 meters, running 1:56.56 to help anchor the men's middle-distance group and contribute key points toward the team's third-place finish.
On the women's side, the Eagles' relay units delivered a sweep of school records. The 4x400 lineup of Olivia Edwards, Kenadi Aker, Lydiana Styles, and Noelle Dawes recorded a program-best 4:21.12, capping the meet with a strong sprint relay performance. Earlier in the meet, Edwards joined Teara Snider, Sara James, and Lily Tullock in the 4x800, where the group posted a school record of 11:10.77. The women's distance medley relay of Kimberly Guerra, Edwards, Dawes and Rylee Fisher added yet another standard, finishing in 13:19.25 to complete a three-relay record haul.
Field events and hurdles also produced multiple All-Conference performances for the Eagles. In the women's high jump, Samantha Cramer cleared 1.57 meters for a personal record and a runner-up finish, earning All-Conference honors and valuable points toward the team total. On the men's side, Christopher James joined Penny on the AAC podium in the hurdles, placing third in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.64 seconds, a personal best that secured All-Conference recognition.
Other All-Conference performers included Braydon Ingraham, who placed third in the Long Jump, Bryan McClendon, who was third in the High Jump, and thrower Caleb Hamilton, who placed 2nd in the weighted throw.
Across both squads, Reinhardt athletes added numerous personal records in sprints, distance races, jumps and throws, underscoring the program's depth at the conference level. The combination of five school records, a conference champion, and several All-Conference finishes helped solidify the men's third-place team result and provided the women's team with momentum despite a seventh-place finish in a competitive field.
With the indoor conference season complete, the Eagles will look to carry their record-breaking form into the upcoming outdoor campaign. The performances in Winston-Salem, highlighted by Penny's hurdle title and the surge of relay success, position Reinhardt to build on this championship showing as the program continues its climb within the AAC.
