Reinhardt Track and Field Sets Two School Records, Piles Up PRs in Atlanta Weekend
Atlanta, GA - Reinhardt Track and Field turned its first full outdoor weekend into a record-setting showcase, posting two school records and a wave of personal bests at the Emory Spring Break Classic and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational on March 20-21 in Atlanta.
The Eagles' headline performances came from the women's sprint relay and the vertical jumps. The women's 4x200-meter relay of Abigail Bell, Makenzie Cumbee, Lydiana Styles, and Kenadi Aker clocked 1 minute, 44.94 seconds at Emory to establish a new Reinhardt school record. In the field events, Samantha Cramer cleared 1.55 meters in the women's high jump, breaking her own program mark while registering a personal record in the process.
Reinhardt's sprinters and hurdlers helped set the tone on the track with a mix of strong debuts and improvements. Bell and Aker both contributed to the record-setting relay and added competitive individual marks in the 100 and 200 meters, with Bell running 12.89 in the 100 and 26.17 in the 200, and Aker posting 12.63 and 26.31, respectively. On the men's side, Chase Malloy put together one of the top all-around sprint efforts of the meet, recording 22.61 in the 200 and 49.75 in the 400 while also notching a personal record of 11.32 in the 100.
Middle-distance runners added depth to the Eagles' results sheet. Braniff Mahoney led the way in the 800 meters, crossing in 1:58.41 to highlight the group's early-season form. With more than 20 personal records or season bests reported across the roster, Reinhardt used the two-day meet to advance athletes across nearly every event group, from sprints and hurdles to middle distance, jumps, and throws.
The throwing crew split time between venues, with javelin specialists competing at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech. Ethan Rice produced Reinhardt's top javelin mark of the weekend, reaching 58.08 meters to headline the group. He was joined by teammate Michael Dyess, who delivered a personal record of 54.01 meters to cap a strong day for the Eagles in the event.
In addition to the school records and javelin highlights, Reinhardt athletes collected numerous season-opening benchmarks that position the team well for the heart of the outdoor schedule. The balance of standout performances — from relay excellence and a record high jump to emerging speed in the sprints and depth in the throws — underscored the program's progress on both the men's and women's sides.
With two new entries in the record book and a large collection of personal records secured in Atlanta, the Eagles exit the opening stretch of the outdoor season building momentum. Reinhardt now turns its attention to the Don McGrary Invite at Kennesaw State on March 27-28 with an eye on converting these March performances into conference-qualifying marks and postseason opportunities.
