Eagles Posts Two School Records, 18 Personal Bests at Don McGarey Invitational
Kennesaw, GA - Reinhardt Track and Field turned in one of its strongest outings of the outdoor season Friday and Saturday at the Don McGarey Invitational, producing two school records and 18 personal records at Kennesaw State. The Eagles were led by a record-breaking throw from Chase Story in the men's discus and a new standard from the women's 4x400-meter relay.
Story delivered the top individual mark of the meet for Reinhardt, reaching 45.63 meters in the discus to set a new school record while also recording a personal best. On the track, the Eagles' women's 4x400 relay team of Noelle Dawes, Kenadi Aker, Makenzie Cumbee, and Lydiana Styles finished in 4:14.68, another school-record performance and one of the weekend's signature results for the program.
Several other Eagles added personal-best efforts across the running events. Makenzie Cumbee ran 26.68 in the women's 200 meters for a PR after also posting a 12.88 in the 100. Jace Anderson clocked a personal-best 56.63 in the men's 400 hurdles, Ben Pearce broke 10 minutes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a PR of 9:57.13, and Uriel Guzman recorded a personal-best 1:59.07 in the men's 800. Chase Malloy also added a PR in the men's 400, finishing in 49.58.
Reinhardt also produced notable marks in the field events. Bryan McClendon cleared 1.94 meters in the men's high jump, Caleb Hamilton posted a 48.13-meter throw in the hammer, and Ethan Rice reached 58.11 meters in the javelin. Dawes contributed beyond the relay as well, running 2:24.14 in the 800 to cap a busy meet.
The performance gives the Eagles momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. Reinhardt is scheduled to compete next at the Emory University Dooley Elite Meet on April 4 in Atlanta, one of three remaining meets before the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships, set for April 23-25 at Montreat University in North Carolina.
