Eagles Volleyball Honor Seniors in Final Regular Season Game
David Finney
Waleska, GA - Eagles Volleyball have come down to their final regular-season game before they head to the Mid-South Tournament that will be starting soon. The Eagles find themselves right in the middle of the pack in the conference standings, but they have had much success this season and just came up short from beating teams like Webber International and St. Andrews which are at the top of the standings.
The Eagles honored two seniors in their final regular-season game with Truett McConnell. Matthew Corrales and John Hynes both were honored before the game for their service to this developing volleyball program. Both are great leaders for this team and are main pieces to the program. They will be missed next year as they move on to their next path in life, but they we always be part of the Reinhardt Men's Volleyball Program.
In this final regular-season game, the team enjoyed themselves - even more so than they normally do and still got the job done. Some players that are not the main starters or do not get as much time on the floor got to start the games and played significant minutes. All contributed to the game whether they were playing in their normal positions or new ones that they do not typically play.
The Eagles would come out on top in this match-winning three straight sets, 25-19, 25-14, and 25-19. Truett McConnell Volleyball is a program that is just starting to develop. The Eagles have played them two times already this season and have won with no problems and today would be the same even though the regular players were not playing significant minutes or they were playing out of position.
On their senior days, Corrales and Hynes would lead the way for the Eagles. Corrales would have 10 kills with a .300 hitting percentage. He also had 9 digs and 2 service aces. Hynes would have 9 total kills in the three sets and also have 2 services aces and 3 digs. Seth Stankich would lead the way with 18 digs and Jake Pennypacker would lead the Eagles with 18 assists.
As this team moves on to preparation for the Mid-South Conference Tournament, look for them to step up and make some noise along the way. This is one of the toughest conferences in all of NAIA Men's Volleyball with several ranked teams, but if Reinhardt can just step up their game a little - they have the ability to take out a higher ranked program.
