Eagles Dominance of the AAC Continues
Montreat, NC - Coach Bedard's crew extends its season dual record to 10-2 with the only losses to #3 Southeastern and #8 Providence. The #12 Eagles are working towards the season-ending AAC Championships and NAIA Nationals where the team should have several conference champions and NAIA National qualifiers.
Saturday's duals had the Eagles facing the Cavaliers of Montreat University and the Barons of Brewton Parker from South Georgia. The Eagles did what they needed to do to continue their dominance of the AAC with a 53-6 win over Montreat and 42-3 win over Brewton Parker.
The Eagles had several standouts for the day with several wrestlers winning in both duals. Angel Banda (#12) led the way at 125 with two pins and Cole Luallen (#20) did the same at 149. Tyler Ingram had two wins at 174 with one pin coming against Montreat. Jackson Bond (#24) at 133, Dawson Bates (#14) at 141, and Sam Irwin (#14) at 184 kept their win streaks going. Many of Coach Bedard's wrestlers had good days which can be seen in the final stats below.
The Eagles will be back home next Saturday for the Reinhardt Duals starting at 9 am. It should be a great day on the mat at the Brown Athletic Center so come out and support the Eagles!
After next weekend's duals, the Eagles will have the Life University Duals on Thursday, January 26th and then the Newberry Open in South Carolina on February 5th before getting the AAC Championships going on February 18th.
