Eagles Wrestling has Successful Trip at Newberry Open
Newberry, SC - Reinhardt Wrestling competed at the Newberry Open this past weekend with several wrestlers having successful trips. The conference tournament is just around the corner so getting these last competitive matches in before is very important for doing the final preparations.
Nic Jarvis (285), Sam Irwin (184), Kyle McGill (197), Cole Luallen (149), and Cole Tenety (174) all went 3-0 in their matches. Dawson Bates went 2-0 at the 141 weight class.
Matt Jenkins (165) and Trevor Burdick (157) both went 1-0 in their matches. Angel Banda (125) and Jackson Bond (133) both went 1-1 in their matches.
All of these wrestlers listed above are some of the highly-ranked wrestlers in the NAIA. You can expect to see many of them make runs in both the AAC Tournament and the NAIA. The Eagles will try to repeat as AAC Champs this year, however, competition did improve greatly with #2 ranked Life University, Southeastern, and others that were added this season. Just qualifying for the NAIA Nationals will be a tremendous achievement and Reinhardt has several wrestlers that are capable of doing so.
The AAC Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, February 18th with the location to be announced.
