Eagles Wrap Up Successful Weekend at Huntingdon College
Montgomery, AL - Reinhardt Wrestling had a successful weekend competing at Huntingdon College at both the Huntingdon Duals on Saturday and the Huntingdon Open on Sunday. Several wrestlers were able to get some mat time in this weekend, including some younger wrestlers who have not seen much action this season.
The Eagles cleaned house in the dual matches on Saturday, winning all three with a combined score of 130 to 21. In the first dual, Reinhardt won 30 to 12 over fellow NAIA opponent, Lindsay Wilson University, in their most competitive dual of the day. The next two opponents were NCAA Division III universities, and the Eagles made quick work of them, winning 58-0 against McMurray University (TX) and 42-9 over Schreiner University (TX).
Caden McCrary (141), Hayden Santoro (165), Aaron Riner (197), Nate Bukovich (174), and Calebl Pruitt (285) all went undefeated on Saturday in their dual matches. Several other wrestlers, including Garrett Pace (149), Joabe Araujo (157), Jonathan Paramore (184), and Lee Camp (133), went 2-1 in their matches. Ty Gentry went 1-1 in his two dual matches in the 125 weight class.
On Sunday, Reinhardt took to the mat in the Huntingdon Open Tournament, where the wrestlers would compete individually. The Eagles had several wrestlers competing in just the 125, 133, 141, and 149 weight classes for this tournament. They had the most success in the 133 weight class, where the Eagles had three wrestlers place. Zac Kosken was the most successful, making it to the finals and placing second overall! Two of them faced each other in the consolation round finals. Karmel Thompson and Carson Griffey each worked their way through the consolation rounds for the third-place match. Thompson came out on top over Griffey, placing third overall. Griffey took fourth place in the tournament.
