WALESKA, Ga. – The 21st-ranked Reinhardt softball team took the field again Tuesday, this time for a doubleheader against Brewton-Parker (Ga.).
The Eagles emerged victorious in both games by a score of 8-0 (six innings) to improve to 8-2 on the year, 6-0 at home at Ken White Softball Field, and extended their current winning streak to four games.
Reinhardt has been excellent in the field and at the plate over that winning streak – allowing just 16 hits and four total runs while committing only two errors.
"There's not much to complain about today," head coach Jade Geuther said. "We were good in all aspects of the game. We will rest up tomorrow and get ready to open up the conference season on Thursday."
Game 1 (W, 8-0)
- Eagle ace Reagan Radke got the start in game one of the doubleheader and struck out 9-of-21 batters, gave up zero walks and allowed only two hits.
- In the bottom of the first inning, Jill Martinet was hit by a pitch, which was immediately followed by an Emma Adams 2-run home run that gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead after the first.
- Reinhardt busted the game open in the second inning with five hits – an Autumn Bible double, Alise Hooks double, Natalie Parlato single, Martinet double and an Adams single – resulting in five more runs and a score of 7-0.
- The last run of the game came in the final inning as a Kyrstyn Fisher single drove in Emily Loveless, making the final score, 8-0.
- Four Eagles registered multiple hits in the game – Hooks (2), Bible (2), Martinet (2) and Adams (3).
Game 2 (W, 8-0)
- Freshman Whitney Shepherd got the start in game two and looked excellent, allowing just four hits, zero walks and striking out five batters.
- The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when a Brewton-Parker error, Emily Loveless single and Emma Adams sacrifice bunt allowed the Eagles to take a 2-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.
- Three different Eagles, Natalie Parlato, Megan Huss and Loveless had singles in the fourth, which allowed for two more runs to score; giving Reinhardt a four-run cushion heading into the fifth.
- The fifth inning went much like the previous two as the Eagles poured on four more hits and three more runs to bring the score to 7-0 heading into the sixth.
- Loveless and Adams singled in the sixth, which was followed by a Kyrstyn Fisher sacrifice fly, allowing one more run to score and bringing the final score to 8-0.
- Eight different Eagles had at least one hit in the second game while two of them, Loveless (3) and Huss (2), had multiple.
Reinhardt will be back in action Thursday afternoon in the Appalachian Athletic Conference opener with a doubleheader on the road against Columbia (S.C.).
