2022 Softball All-Conference Team and Awards Announced

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced the 2022 Softball All-Conference Team and awards on Monday, and Annalise Wood of Bryan is the Player of the Year.

The awards were nominated and selected by the softball coaches of the AAC.

In addition to being named the Player of the Year, Wood is also the Pitcher of the Year and the Freshman of the Year. Mark Ritchhart of Bryan is the Coach of the Year.

Emily Loveless, Jill Martinet, and freshman Alexis Teems are Reinhardt University representatives on the 1st Team All-Conference. In addition, JJ Trowell was awarded a spot on the NAIA/AAC Champions of Character Team.

Emily Loveless was second on the team in home runs with 9 total. She batted .425% and had 48 hits and scored 39 runs. 13 of her hits were doubles and she would have one triple on the season. Loveless was an all-around top player for the Eagles that was consistent on both offense and defense.

Jill Martinet would bat .391% on the season scoring 30 runs on 59 hits. She was third on the team with home runs with 7 and she had 18 doubles and 1 triple. She also had 47 RBIs. Martinet was a rock at first base and always came up with the big hit when the Eagles needed it most.

Alexis Teems was the speedster for the Eagles whether it was on the bases or locking down center field. Her speed enabled her to get 24 stolen bases for the season, but she did so much more. She batted .458% and scored 43 runs. She had 7 doubles and 2 triples and she was always a threat to score once she got on base.

A total of 12 players make up the All-AAC First with an additional nine making up the second team.
