The Eagles Narrowly Fall 1-0 to Eastern Oregon in First Round of NAIA World Series
COLUMBUS, Ga. - In a game that was dominated by the two starting pitchers, Eastern Oregon secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Reinhardt (Ga.) to remain in the winner's bracket of the 2025 NAIA Softball World Series. EOU's Kylie Parsons, who improved to a perfect 21-0 record for the season.
The sole run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning, when Eastern Oregon's Emily Barry delivered a crucial double to center field, allowing Hannah Tyree to score. This proved to be the decisive moment, as both teams were unable to find any offensive rhythm against strong pitching.
Reinhardt's Anslie Pettit (20-4) delivered a stellar performance of her own in the circle, pitching six innings and allowing just one run on six hits while striking out five batters. Parsons was exceptional, pitching a complete game shutout, allowing only one hit and striking out ten Eagle batters without issuing a walk. Her efficiency and control on the mound were evident, as she faced just 22 batters and threw 74 pitches, 52 of which were strikes.
The Mountaineers' defense was solid, overcoming a lone error by Raygun Klippert, while the Eagles' sole hit came from Ansley Hight.
This victory takes Eastern Oregon to a 36-9 record, while Reinhardt falls to 32-11. Both teams showcased their strengths in pitching, but Eastern Oregon capitalized on a key offensive opportunity that made the difference in this low-scoring encounter.
Next up, the Reinhardt Eagles will be facing Southern Oregon on Friday, May 23rd, in an elimination game scheduled for 10 AM. The Eagles, holding a season record of 32-11, aim to rebound from this narrow defeat and advance further in the World Series.
