Eagles Round Off Weekend with a Loss to Brewton-Parker
By Erinn Marroquin
DAYTON, TENNESSEE- The Eagles hope to regain their footing after a tough start to the 2021-22 season. They completed a weekend of games at Bryan College with a dissapointing loss to the Barons of Brewton-Parker (GA.) 67-79. Reinhardt finished the first quarter with a lead of 24-16, showing promise for the rest of the game. But the Barons came back in the second quarter with a vengeance, going on a 14-2 run making the score 30-26 over the Eagles with 4 minutes left until the end of the first half. Smart substitutions by Head Coach Wagoner allowed the Eagles to even out the score 36-36 at halftime.
Yet again, the Eagles could not connect with the goal, add two turnovers, and the Barons ran away with a lead of 56-40 with 2:53 left in the third. The rest of the quarter looked no different as Reinhardt completed the period being outshot 22-8. The Eagles knew they needed to take action going into the fourth quarter, and were able to outscore their opponent 23-21. But this last ditch effort was not enough for RU to come out on top as the Barons used their consistent lead to finish off the game.
