Eagles add AAC Road Opener as Their First Win against The Knights

Harris Court, N.C. - After opening their 2021-22 season with three straight losses, Reinhardt found their rhythm and completed their first win of the season against the Knights of St. Andrews 95-69.
Reinhardt came out of the gate, at full speed, as they opened up the game with a 16-8 lead over the Knights. The Eagles energy carried this strong start for the remainder of the first period which ended with a 28-15 lead. Ashley Woodroffe led the offense in the quarter with 7 points.
During the second period, the Eagles did not let up as Abi Haynes tallied 9 points with strong shooting. The defense also made a stand as they forced the Knights into seven turnovers and the Eagles collected four steals. The Eagles outscored the Knights in the second quarter 25-14 to finish with 53-29 at the half.
Despite the high energy the Eagles showed throughout the first half, they had a slow start in the second half fueled by five turnovers and the Knights outscored RU 26-24 in the third quarter. Throughout the remainder of the game, the Eagles energy was restored and the team was able to pull away with a 95-69 win on the road over the Knights of St. Andrews.

- Abi Haynes led the offense with 22 points and 5 assists.
- Ashley Woodroffe added 15 points with Julia Craft contributing 11 points and Tarah Gibson 10 points.
- Catherine Shope and Darika Chelsey leach had 8 rebounds to lead the EaGles.
We welcome the Eagles back home for their Appalachian Athletic Home Opener at the Brown Athletic Center against the Bluefield Rams, on November 13th with tipoff set for 12:00pm.
