WALESKA, GA.- On Wednesday, Dec 1st, the Reinhardt Eagles picked up a huge win against conference opponent, Montreat University 77-61, which evens their overall record to 5-5 on the season and 4-1 in the AAC.
The Eagles were led by Senior, Abi Haynes, with 19 points. Haynes controlled the ball on the court and was fearless when attacking the visiting Cavalier defense. She was 8 for 13 shooting from the field and pulled down 4 rebounds. Hanes was accompanied by fellow seniors, Catherine Shope and Brylee Puckett. Puckett had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Shope helped Haynes run the floor scoring 13 points. Shope added 9 boards to her stats as well.
The teams kept the game about equal in the first and second quarters going into halftime with Eagles leading with a slim 32-31 lead. Coach Wagoner had the right halftime talk with the team because the third quarter belonged to the Eagles. Reinhardt outscored Montreat 24-17 in the third quarter and did not let up in the fourth. The game ended with the Eagles surging to a strong 77 to 61 victory and making their way up the conference standings.
The Eagles will face another conference opponent this Saturday, December 4th when they travel to Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky.
