Make it Four in a Row!

Gainesville, GA - Rarely do you see college basketball games being played back-to-back in the regular season - especially against the same team, but that is exactly what the Eagles had to do on Thursday. With the regular season coming to a close on Saturday, Reinhardt had to squeeze in a make-up game and they made the most of it. The Eagles were coming off a Wednesday afternoon victory against Brenau University and they would need to repeat the same thing to keep their winning streak going. They were able to accomplish this winning 63-53 over Brenau and extending their winning streak to four straight games.
Ashley Woodroffe would lead the Eagles in this one scoring a solid 17 points on 6-9 shooting from the field. She was the only Eagle in double-figure scoring, however, they had several right on the edge. Catherine Shope would have 9 points and 5 rebounds, Symone Williams had 8 points, and Tarrah Gibson and Katrice Jackson both had 6 points each. Abi Haynes would lead the Eagles in rebounds with 7.
This game would start off similar to the game from Wednesday where the lead was close for most of the quarter, however, this time the Eagles would have the lead at the end of the first, 17-13. The Eagles were able to keep their lead in the second quarter and eventually start building on this lead. Around the five-minute mark of the second quarter, Reinhardt got their lead up to nine points and after a few shots by both teams - Ashley Woodroffe's three-pointer at the one-minute mark got the Eagles a ten-point lead. Reinhardt would take this ten-point lead to halftime, 33-23.
The second half would see Reinhardt dismantle the Golden Tigers in the third getting a fifteen-point lead on Catherine Shope's layup with three minutes remaining. Just like the day before, the Eagles had control of the game, but Brenau has proven they are a team that will never give up. In the third, they were able to get Reinhardt's lead down to eight points, but the Eagles would lead 50-40 to wrap up the quarter.
The fourth would be one where Reinhardt would just try to hang onto their lead. In the first minute, the lead was cut to just five and there were nervous moments for the Eagles. Julia Craft made a couple of free throws to get the lead back to seven. Shope would help get the lead back up for Reinhardt and then Ashley Woodroffe would get on a hot streak to take the Golden Eagles out of the game. What was once a five-point lead earlier in the fourth was now back to a fourteen-point lead and the Eagles would not look back. The fourth quarter would finish with Reinhardt winning by ten points, 63-53.
Reinhardt will have its final game of the regular season on Saturday. It will be a special day for the Eagles as they will be honoring all of their senior players. The game is against St. Andrews and they will be tipping off at 11 am.
